I am posting another song. This beautiful poem was written by one our IofC friend Rob Wood (Australia). It's so much enriching. I thought of sharing with you all...
Could we walk the streets together…
When I walk the streets of plenty
And enjoy a life of ease
I can shut out this world’s worries
And just do as I please
With my home and car and video
My savings growing fast
And leisured hours to while away
Yes what more could I ask
But if we, share gladly, of all we possess
Care deeply, for lands in distress
Give freely, to those who have less
Than either, you or I
Share gladly, of all we possess
Care deeply, for lands in distress
Give freely, to those who have less
Yes if we, live simply, then others may simply live
When you walk the streets of poverty
Then life is a constant fight
You must live on any scraps you find
The streets your home by nights
It’s so hard to keep your sense of worth
With so few clothes to wear
In the slum of some big city
Where the future spells despair
But if we, share gladly…
Yes if we, live simply, then others may simply live
Could we walk the streets together
Our hearts and skills combined
Could we end all we want, forever
Your future matter like mine
And if once we turned our backs on greed
Would there be hope again
That everyone could have there needs
And dignity regained
Yes, if we, share gladly…
Yes if we, live simply, then others may simply live
